Long Term Futures are recruiting for a dedicated and proactive Year 5 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming OFSTED 'Good' two-form entry primary school in Northfield, Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive and inclusive staff team, providing whole-class support while delivering targeted interventions for pupils who require additional help to achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting learning across the Year 5 classroom, with a particular focus on delivering small group interventions for pupils with SEMH, Autism and behavioural needs. The school is looking for someone who can build positive relationships, promote engagement and implement effective strategies to help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
The Role
Provide whole-class support within a Year 5 classroom alongside the class teacher.
Deliver targeted small group interventions for pupils with SEMH, Autism and behavioural needs.
Support pupils with emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour strategies.
Deliver interventions in literacy, numeracy and social development to close learning gaps.
Adapt learning activities to meet the needs of individual pupils.
Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and implement support plans.
Promote a calm, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience and independence.The Ideal Candidate
Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent) - Essential.
Previous experience working within Key Stage 2, ideally in Upper KS2.
Experience supporting pupils with Autism, SEMH and challenging behaviour.
Experience planning and delivering successful small group interventions.
Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their full potential.About the School
