Lead Quality Specialist (Quality Management) - 12-Month Contract | Nailsea (Hybrid)

Location: Nailsea, UK (Hybrid Working)
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking an experienced Lead Quality Specialist to join a leading engineering organisation on a 12-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior quality professional with extensive experience in the oil & gas or energy sector, particularly within subsea projects and deepwater applications.

Working within a collaborative project environment, you will act as the key point of contact for project quality, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, international quality standards, and internal Quality Management Systems throughout the project life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary quality representative for assigned projects, ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Develop, review, and implement Project Quality Plans (PQPs) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).

  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, contractual requirements, industry standards, and Quality Management Systems.

  • Support quality activities throughout design, manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, testing, installation, and project close-out.

  • Lead design reviews, quality reviews, risk assessments, non-conformance investigations, and root cause analysis (CAPA).

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Site Operations, and Project teams.

  • Monitor and report quality performance metrics, identifying risks and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Support supplier qualification, supplier audits, surveillance activities, and quality assurance processes.

  • Lead or participate in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with ISO and industry standards.

  • Promote lessons learned and best practices across projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality, or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience).

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Quality Management or Quality Management Systems (QMS).

  • Strong experience developing and implementing Project Quality Plans (PQPs) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).

  • Extensive experience within the oil & gas or energy sector.

  • Hands-on experience with the fabrication, assembly, and construction of oil & gas equipment.

  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, API, ASME, and related quality standards.

  • Experience leading quality audits, supplier quality activities, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working on subsea projects and deepwater applications.

  • Knowledge of offshore installation requirements and client quality specifications.

  • Experience working in complex, multi-disciplinary project environments.
