Bennett and game are pleased to be representing a well-established specialist engineering contractor based in Cardiff looking to employ a Commercial Manager.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and growing business delivering a varied portfolio of infrastructure and engineering projects across the rail, highways, environmental and civil engineering sectors.
The company specialises in steel fabrication, structural strengthening, scaffolding, blasting and protective coatings, working on projects including bridges, flood defence schemes, lock gates, marine structures and wider infrastructure refurbishment works.
The successful candidate will join a modern and friendly working environment and take responsibility for the commercial management of approximately 20 live projects at any one time. The role will involve working closely with Project Managers, engineers, clients and principal contractors to ensure applications, valuations, invoices and commercial documentation are completed accurately and on time.
This position would suit an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager from a civil engineering, infrastructure, fabrication or specialist subcontracting background who is looking for a secure, long-term position with a respected engineering business.
Commercial Manager Job Overview
Manage the commercial requirements of multiple engineering projects
Prepare and submit applications for payment, valuations and invoices
Review project paperwork and financial information provided by Project Managers
Liaise with client-side Quantity Surveyors and principal contractors
Manage variations, compensation events and contractual correspondence
Support projects delivered under NEC contracts
Monitor project costs, payments and commercial performance
Assist with project close-out and final accounts
Maintain accurate commercial and financial records
Work closely with operational, engineering and project delivery teams
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholdersCommercial Manager Job Requirements
Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager or Project Commercial Manager
Experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, structural engineering, fabrication or specialist contracting
Good understanding of NEC contracts, ideally NEC3 or NEC4
Experience preparing applications for payment, valuations and invoices
Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills
Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction or Engineering is advantageousCommercial Manager Salary and Benefits
