Mechanical Stress Engineer - Aerospace (Contractor)
Location: Camberley
Contract: 12 months
Our client, a leading aerospace organisation, is hiring a Mechanical Stress Engineer to support aircraft interior modification certification. This is a contract role working as a contingent worker, primarily delivering structural substantiation documentation for interior upgrades such as seating, monuments, LOPAs, PSUs, LRUs, and more. You will collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
What you'll be doing:
* Lead certification activities and produce structural substantiation reports for interior modifications.
* Develop calculations, stress reports, load paths, and FEA models to demonstrate structural integrity.
* Review and author certification documentation aligned with regulatory and customer requirements.
* Support customer meetings and ensure all documentation is traceable, auditable, and compliant.
* Work closely with international teams to identify certification needs and define solutions.
* Promote safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the engineering environment.
What you'll bring:
* A degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering.
* Extensive experience in aircraft structures/stress, with recent involvement in interior modification substantiation.
* Proficiency in hand calculations, classical stress analysis, and FEA tools.
* Familiarity with EASA Part 21J or equivalent design organisation standards is highly desirable.
* Strong technical report writing skills and knowledge of EASA and FAA airworthiness standards.
* Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise effectively, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
* Experience working on-site at least 3 days a week, with flexibility for remote work.
