Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher to join a vibrant and supportive educational setting in Croydon. The successful candidate will plan, prepare and deliver high-quality lessons in accordance with the national curriculum, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for pupils. This role involves assessing pupil progress, providing constructive feedback, and supporting the development of key skills and knowledge across a broad range of subjects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons that meet the needs of all pupils, including those with additional learning requirements.
Create and maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development.
Assess, record, and report on pupils’ progress regularly, using a variety of assessment methods.
Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies to ensure a positive learning atmosphere.
Develop and implement personalised learning plans and interventions where necessary.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to support pupil welfare and achievement.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and school events as required.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all pupils at all times.
Maintain accurate records of attendance and pupil information.
Contribute to the development and review of school policies and curriculum initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised qualification.
Successful completion of an initial teacher training programme.

Education and Experience

Degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in Education or a relevant subject area.
Proven experience teaching within the primary phase, ideally across multiple year groups.
Experience planning and delivering lessons in line with the national curriculum.
Demonstrated ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.

Knowledge and Skills

Comprehensive understanding of the national curriculum and statutory assessment frameworks.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for engaging with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
Ability to differentiate teaching to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Competence in using technology to support teaching and learning.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional training or qualifications in special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Experience with early years foundation stage (EYFS).
First aid qualification.

Working Conditions

The role is based within a primary school in Croydon, Greater London.
Full-time hours are expected, in line with school term times and usual school hours.
The position requires standing and moving around the classroom for extended periods.
Occasional attendance at evening meetings or school events may be necessary.
Adherence to all school policies, including health and safety and safeguarding protocols, is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
