We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established and growing accountancy practice with a diverse client portfolio across sectors including wholesale, hospitality and construction. They are looking to appoint an experienced Payroll Assistant to join their friendly team, managing a varied client portfolio, processing payrolls using Sage and Xero, and delivering an excellent service while building strong client relationships.

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a varied client portfolio and handling payroll duties, including weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls using Sage and Xero.

Key responsibilities include:
* Managing a portfolio of clients
* Processing payrolls for a couple of hundred employees
* Meeting all month-end deadlines
* Client administration and billing
* Providing support across the payroll function as required
* CIS knowledge would be advantageous.
Additional Benefits
* Quarterly social events and office outings.
* Flexible working hours around client requirements.
* Early finish at 3:00pm on Fridays.
* Office-based role due to the nature of the payroll function.
* Core hours are 9:00am - 5:00pm, based on a 35-hour working week.

Bonus Structure
A performance-related bonus is paid twice yearly, in June and December. This is linked to both company profitability and individual performance, with typical payments ranging from £750 to £1,500.

The successful candidate will ideally have:
* Ideally, candidates will have payroll experience gained within an accountancy practice, although those with a smaller amount of practice experience will also be considered.
* Must be confident speaking with clients and not be phone shy.
* A friendly, personable and bubbly character would fit well within the team.
* Someone who is happy to get involved and support the wider team where needed.
The client is particularly looking for someone who:
1. Has the relevant payroll experience.
2. Will build strong relationships with clients.
3. Has excellent people skills and works well with others.
