Home based / 1 day per month in the office | Some UK Travel Required | SC Clearance Needed
Are you a technically minded professional with a passion for turning complex engineering information into clear, structured documentation?
We’re looking for a Technical Author to join a specialist team supporting high-profile defence programmes. This is a unique opportunity to work hands-on with advanced mechanical systems and contribute directly to mission-critical projects.
The Role
As a Technical Author, you’ll work closely with engineers, designers, and subject matter experts to produce high-quality technical documentation. You’ll play a key role in translating complex engineering data, including drawings and standards, into clear, usable content for end users and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Gather information directly from engineers and technical teams
* Interpret design drawings, specifications, and industry standards
* Develop accurate, clear, and user-focused technical documentation
* Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team environment
* Support documentation across customer sites, including occasional overseas travel
* Identify and highlight opportunities for additional business value
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* Mechanical and/or Engineering background
* Ability to interpret detailed engineering information and present it clearly
* Excellent written English and attention to detail
* Strong collaboration skills within multi-skilled teams
* Practical experience with MS Office and documentation tools
Desirable:
* Formal technical qualifications
* Experience working with heavy armour or defence platforms
