A broad and rewarding HR role in a fast-paced operational environment
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established business in the food manufacturing sector for an experienced HR Advisor to join a busy and people-focused operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a capable HR professional who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and wants to play a visible role in supporting managers, employees, and overall site performance. Working closely with the wider HR team and operational leaders, you will provide practical, proactive HR support across a broad generalist remit.
If you are confident handling employee relations, enjoy building strong working relationships, and want to make a genuine impact, this could be a fantastic next step.
The role
As HR Advisor, you will support the day-to-day HR operation across the site, helping to ensure people processes are delivered effectively, professionally, and in line with both company policy and employment law.
You will be involved in a wide range of responsibilities including employee relations, absence management, training compliance, recruitment support, occupational health coordination, engagement activity, and HR systems administration.
This is a role for someone who is happy being close to the operation, working with managers at all levels, and balancing hands-on HR support with wider people initiatives.
Key responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day HR advice and guidance to managers and employees
* Support and manage employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, conduct, capability, and absence cases
* Coach and support managers to ensure policies and procedures are applied consistently and fairly
* Assist with sickness absence management, return-to-work processes, and absence reduction plans
* Maintain HR systems and employee records accurately and confidentially
* Coordinate occupational health referrals and support managers with follow-up actions
* Support recruitment and onboarding activity, working closely with hiring managers and internal teams
* Help drive training compliance across legal, technical, and health and safety requirements
* Contribute to engagement, wellbeing, and culture initiatives across the site
* Support audits, reporting, project work, and wider HR improvement activity
* Build strong working relationships with operational stakeholders and act as a credible HR point of contact
What we’re looking for
* Previous experience in a HR Advisor, HR Generalist, or similar role
* Strong employee relations experience
* Good working knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
* Confidence supporting, influencing, and constructively challenging managers
* Experience using HR systems and managing employee data accurately
* Strong organisation and administrative skills
* Excellent communication and relationship-building ability
* A practical, resilient, and solutions-focused approach
* A flexible attitude and the ability to manage a varied workload
* Full UK driving licence
Experience in manufacturing, food, FMCG, agriculture, or another fast-paced operational environment would be highly advantageous. A CIPD qualification, or working towards one, would also be beneficial.
Why apply?
* Broad, generalist HR role with real variety
* Opportunity to work closely with operational leaders
* Visible role with genuine impact on site culture and people performance
* Supportive HR team environment
* Fast-paced and engaging working environment
* Early finish on a Friday
* Excellent opportunity to build further experience in a well-established business
