2 x Senior Intelligence Officer - Public Health & Children's Social Care
£42,839 - £47,181 per annum
Hybrid working - 1 day per week on-site (Greater Manchester)

We are recruiting two Senior Intelligence Officers to join a forward-thinking local authority, each role sitting within the Communications, Strategy and Performance division.
These are pivotal positions designed to strengthen how data, intelligence and insight inform decision-making across both Public Health and Children's Social Care services. While both posts operate at the same level and within the same team, each will have a distinct focus area:

  • Senior Intelligence Officer - Public Health
  • Senior Intelligence Officer - Children's Social Care

Together, these roles will play a key part in shaping policy, improving outcomes, and driving a culture of evidence-based decision-making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyse complex datasets and communicate insight to inform strategic decision-making, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Produce high-quality dashboards, forecasts, reports, briefings, and presentations tailored to a range of stakeholders.
  • Develop tools, frameworks, and guidance to support consistent, insight-led practice across services.
  • Use Business Intelligence systems to capture, quality assure, analyse, and report on performance and activity data.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on data, intelligence, and insight.
  • Support statutory reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timeliness of returns.
  • Provide peer review, guidance, and technical support within the team to maintain high standards of analytical output.

About you

  • Experience working with either Public Health or Children's Social Care datasets (depending on the role).
  • Strong background in data analysis within a complex organisation, translating data into actionable insight.
  • Technical expertise in managing large datasets or data warehouses.
  • Advanced analytical skills using tools such as Excel, SQL, R, or Python.
  • Experience using data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.

Why apply?
This is an excellent opportunity to work at the heart of two critical service areas, using data and insight to make a real difference to communities. You'll be part of a collaborative and ambitious team, with the opportunity to influence strategy and improve outcomes across both Public Health and Children's Social Care.

On top of this, you will get:

  • Generous annual leave allowance, giving you a strong work-life balance from day one
  • Excellent Local Government Pension Scheme with substantial employer contributions
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression

In the first instance, please submit your CV.
