Work Pattern: Hybrid (Approximately 30% global travel to supplier manufacturing facilities)
Contract Length: 12 Months
Start Date: ASAP
Industry: Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) / Renewable Energy

This role is deemed outside IR35

About the Role

Spencer Ogden is partnering with a leading energy technology client to recruit an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to support the delivery of large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Europe.

This is an exciting opportunity for a quality professional with a strong manufacturing and supplier quality background who is passionate about driving supplier performance, ensuring product quality, and supporting the successful delivery of cutting-edge renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for managing supplier quality activities across a global network of component manufacturers and contract suppliers. You will conduct supplier qualification, process and surveillance audits, ensuring suppliers consistently meet quality standards, engineering specifications and customer requirements. Working closely with suppliers, you will lead investigations into non-conformances, carry out structured root cause analysis and drive the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).

You will monitor supplier quality performance through KPIs, inspections and trend analysis while supporting supplier development initiatives aimed at improving manufacturing processes, product quality and delivery performance. The role will also involve reviewing supplier quality documentation, including PPAPs, FAI reports, control plans and inspection records where applicable, while ensuring compliance with internal quality systems and industry standards.

Working collaboratively with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing and Project teams, you will support new product introductions, engineering changes and supplier process validations. You will also lead continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned activities to strengthen supplier performance across the supply chain. Approximately 30% of your time will be spent travelling internationally to supplier manufacturing facilities to conduct audits, inspections and quality reviews.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will have between 8 and 12 years of experience within Supplier Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Quality or Supplier Development, ideally gained within the electrical, industrial, automotive, renewable energy or power sectors. You will have proven experience working with suppliers and contract manufacturers in complex production environments and possess a strong understanding of supplier quality management, audit processes and supplier performance improvement.

A solid knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems is essential, along with experience managing non-conformances, root cause investigations and CAPA activities. Experience with electrical components, assemblies and electromechanical products is highly desirable, while familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA and Control Plans would be a distinct advantage.

You will hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline and demonstrate excellent analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills. Experience supporting product lifecycle management, engineering change control and supplier qualification activities is highly valued. Previous exposure to welding, fabrication or painting quality would be beneficial, while ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor certification would be considered an advantage.

Language Requirements

Professional fluency in English is essential. Dutch or German language skills at B2 level or above would be advantageous.

Additional Information

This is a hybrid role based in Amsterdam, with approximately 30% international travel to supplier manufacturing facilities. An immediate start is preferred, and multiple contract opportunities are available.

If you are looking to play a key role in delivering world-class supplier quality across innovative Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, we would love to hear from you. Apply today or contact Spencer Ogden for more information
