Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Planning
Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons aligned with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum.
Develop inclusive lesson plans that accommodate diverse abilities and learning styles.
Create a stimulating classroom environment that supports early learning and development.
Classroom Teaching
Deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stage 1.
Support pupils in developing essential skills in phonics, reading, writing, and mathematics.
Encourage curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Employ a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage and motivate pupils.
Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom atmosphere.
Assessment and Progress Tracking
Assess pupil progress using both formative and summative assessment methods.
Provide clear, constructive feedback to support pupil development.
Maintain accurate records of attainment and progress in accordance with school policies.
Differentiation and Individualised Support
Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and higher-attaining pupils.
Collaborate closely with teaching assistants to deliver targeted interventions where necessary.
Ensure all pupils receive appropriate support and challenge.
Communication and Collaboration
Build positive relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed about pupil progress and wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and senior leaders.
Participate actively in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events, including parents’ evenings.
Professional Development
Stay informed about developments in primary education and Key Stage 1 best practises.
Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.
The Ideal Candidate
A degree in Education or a relevant subject (a Master’s degree is desirable).
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Experience teaching within Key Stage 1 or Early Years settings.
Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum, particularly phonics and early literacy.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
A genuine passion for primary education and for creating an engaging, inclusive classroom environment.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
