Forward Deployed Engineer (AI/Full-Stack)

A venture-backed health-technology company is building the intelligence platform that helps health systems make smarter technology-investment decisions. The team is small, fast, well-funded and integrity-led, with live pilots already running. They are hiring two Forward Deployed Engineers to ship end to end and own problems from the first customer conversation through to a deployed solution.

About the company

Health systems spend in the region of $100 billion a year on health IT, yet most of those buying decisions are still made ad hoc, with little data behind them. Our client is changing that. Built distribution-first, the company began with deep relationships across health systems and a widely-used directory of health IT vendors, populated by AI agents that scrape and verify public data. That has grown into a proprietary, structured model (an ontology) of the entire health IT landscape, which powers tools that help health systems compare investments and turn complex ROI analysis into clear, defensible outputs. The long-term goal is end-to-end life cycle management for technology within health systems.

Culturally, this is a mature, deliberate and frugal team that cares deeply about doing the right thing, even when it is the harder path. Expect high standards, high agency and low ego.

The role

You will work across the full stack (LLM pipelines, data architecture and user-facing product). You will build AI agents that collect, verify and structure a growing model of the health IT landscape, develop the modelling software that turns complex ROI analysis into clear outputs, and build internal tooling that makes a team of analysts dramatically faster. You will work directly with pilot customers to decide what is worth building, reading between the lines of what they ask for versus what is strategically right.

What you will bring

• Raw intelligence, high agency and a high ramp. Velocity and judgement matter more than years.
• Critical: hands-on experience with data pipelining and LLMs.
• Full-stack development across Back End services, data pipelines and user-facing UIs, turning complex operations into user-friendly interfaces.
• Systems thinking: the ability to decompose ambiguous problems and reason clearly about design trade-offs.
• A track record of high performance, ideally at a high-growth start-up or a competitive, high-performance environment. Founder backgrounds welcome.
• 2 to 5 years' experience is the sweet spot, though exceptional candidates with less will be considered. Non-traditional education is fine where the work speaks for itself. Healthcare domain experience is not required.

Hiring process

Four focused stages: an intro call, a collaborative live coding challenge, a remote technical screen and a New York onsite. The team moves quickly and will flex the process for strong candidates.
