Town Planner - Alnwick (Northumberland)
Full-time (flexible or part time working options considered)
A growing property and planning consultancy in Alnwick is looking to appoint a Town Planner to join their close-knit team of 8 planners and surveyors.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planner with 2+ years' experience (either local authority or private sector) who is looking to take on more responsibility in a supportive, commercially focused environment.
Working across a diverse portfolio of rural, residential and strategic land projects, you'll play a key role in delivering planning advice that helps unlock development potential and add value for clients. The business provides end-to-end support, from feasibility through to planning applications and negotiations with local authorities, offering strong exposure across the full development lifecycle.
The Role
·Preparing and submitting planning applications
·Supporting strategic land promotion and development projects
·Engaging with local authorities and key stakeholders
·Providing clear, practical planning advice to clients
·Assisting with appeals, policy representations and site appraisals
About You
·Minimum 2 years' experience in town planning
·Background in local authority or private consultancy
·Strong communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused mindset
·Ability to manage your own workload within a small, collaborative team
What's on Offer
·Competitive salary (depending on experience)
·Bonus scheme typically 8-15%
·Genuine flexibility:
oIdeally office-based, but with flexibility where needed
oPart-time or 4-day week also considered
·Exposure to a wide variety of projects and clients
·Supportive, tight-knit team environment with real career progression
Why Apply?
This is a rare opportunity to join a small but ambitious consultancy where you'll have real input, client exposure, and the chance to grow quickly within the business. The team prides itself on delivering practical, commercially focused advice and building strong client relationships through a hands-on approach.
If you're looking to step into a role where your work will have tangible impact, and you won't just be a small cog in a large machine, this could be the right move.
