The Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with ADHD.
Adapt learning activities and break tasks into manageable steps to maintain engagement.
Use effective ADHD support strategies, including movement breaks, visual prompts and positive reinforcement.
Encourage positive behaviour, independence and confidence in learning.
Deliver small-group interventions when required.
Support the class teacher with classroom activities and pupil progress.
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and parents to provide consistent support.
About You
The ideal 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant will have:
Essential: Strong experience supporting pupils within Key Stage 2 in a UK primary school.
Essential: Proven experience working with children with ADHD, with a good understanding of strategies that promote engagement, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
Experience supporting pupils with SEND on a 1:1 basis.
A calm, patient and resilient approach to behaviour management.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to adapt learning to meet individual needs and support pupils in reaching their potential.
Confidence delivering interventions and supporting whole-class learning when required.
A genuine passion for helping children achieve both academically and personally.
