Mechanical Design Engineer
Looking for a hands-on design role where you can build on your experience and keep growing?
This Mechanical Design Engineer role gives you real technical work, variety, and the chance to develop your skills in one of the fastest-growing industries around.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll play a key part in taking mechanical design projects from concept through to manufacture, working as part of a close design team. You'll use your SolidWorks skills to produce high-quality air-containment solutions and improve energy efficiency, supporting the delivery of bespoke products for an industry whose importance is growing fast on the back of AI and surging digital demand. Job Responsibilities
Contributing to mechanical design projects from concept through to production release
Producing detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
Creating conceptual layouts, schematics, sheet metal designs, and specification documents
Checking your own design work for accuracy, manufacturability, and adherence to standards
Liaising with manufacturers and suppliers to resolve technical issues during production
Managing your own workload and prioritising tasks to help meet project deadlines
Supporting procurement with materials knowledge, technical input, and design-for-manufacture improvements
Skills and Experience
To do well as a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll need:
Some proven experience in a mechanical design role
Strong SolidWorks capability, including CAD, Sheet Metal, Assemblies, and Weldments
Solid mechanical engineering knowledge with a practical understanding of manufacturing processes
The ability to interpret and translate site survey data into accurate designs
Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down technical issues
A degree or HND in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or similar
The ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively
A collaborative approach and the willingness to learn from those around you
Pay and Benefits
As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will receive:
Salary circa £35,000 per annum
Monday to Friday, office-based
