Job Description - Learning Support Assistant (SEN)
Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (SEN)
Responsible to: SENCO / Assistant SENCO
Purpose of the Role
To support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in accessing learning, promoting independence, and achieving their full potential within a safe, inclusive secondary school environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEND.
Assist teachers in delivering inclusive lessons and adapting learning activities.
Support students' academic progress, behaviour, communication, and emotional wellbeing.
Help implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support strategies.
Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals.
Promote safeguarding, inclusion, and equal opportunities at all times.
Person Specification
Experience of supporting young people with SEND (desirable).
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Patient, caring, flexible, and committed to helping students succeed.
GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
