Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
Work closely with the management team to ensure successful project delivery.
Deliver work in line with agreed scope, programme, fee, and quality expectations.
Technical Leadership
Lead mechanical design delivery, including:
Technical strategy
Calculations
Specifications
Schedules
Drawings
Reports
Ensure effective coordination with wider design disciplines.
Quality Assurance
Take ownership of technical deliverables.
Review outputs prior to issue to ensure:
Accuracy
Coordination
Commercial suitability
Alignment with company standards
Project & Stakeholder Management
Act as the lead engineer on projects.
Participate in meetings and lead technical discussions.
Resolve project issues efficiently.
Maintain clear communication with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Business Development
Support client relationship management and growth activities.
Provide technical input into:
Fee proposals
Scopes of service
Follow-on opportunities
Prospective project discussions
Team Development
Support team growth and capability planning.
Identify resource requirements.
Contribute to recruitment decisions and future engineering capacity planning.
Required Experience & Skills
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Chartered Engineer status, or active progression towards chartership.
Proven experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment.
Experience leading mechanical design delivery and managing technical outputs.
Strong coordination experience with:
Clients
Consultants
Contractors
Multidisciplinary design teams
Commercial awareness, including:
Scope management
Fees and programme control
Change control
Project risk
Strong communication skills with the ability to:
Work independently
Manage workload effectively
Take ownership of outcomes
