Job Title: Senior Network Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to provide expert-level support for the network infrastructure underpinning our data center-based services. This role demands a proactive approach to monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on network service levels, as well as resolving any issues or negative trends identified.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level support for data center network infrastructure.
• Monitor, review, and report on network service levels regularly.
• Ensure network activities are completed within agreed timelines.
• Collaborate with technical architects, project managers, and stakeholders to present suitable network solutions.
• Develop, implement, and test disaster recovery and network fail-over plans.
• Maintain operational acceptance criteria for network solutions.
• Monitor network components for availability, capacity, and performance 24x7.
• Ensure compliance with network and security policies.
• Document network solutions, including diagrams and support procedures.
• Foster collaborative relationships with team members, customers, and suppliers.
• Implement service improvements with a focus on automation and optimisation.
• Provide consultation on in-life customer solutions.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of CCNP with routing and switching or security certification.
• Strong knowledge and experience with Cisco and F5 equipment, including Cisco Nexus Switches, ASA Firewalls, and F5 LTM and DNS load balancers.
• experience in setting up Firewall rules, dynamic routing, load balancing, and VPNs.
• Practical experience with ITIL processes in a 24x7 operations environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Good client and relationship management ability.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of service monitoring (Nagios, Cacti preferred) and configuration management (Puppet preferred).
• Ability to manage third-party vendors such as F5, Cisco, and Kemp.
• experience in hosting providers, MSPs, or regulated environments.
