Health, Safety & Environmental Manager (Multi-Site Manufacturing)

Permanent | Full-Time | Summer 2026 Start

An established and successful UK manufacturing group is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Manager to lead health, safety and environmental activities across multiple manufacturing facilities located within close proximity of each other.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive HS&E professional who enjoys working across several sites, engaging with colleagues at all levels, and driving a culture of continuous improvement while supporting wider business objectives.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Board, the successful candidate will take ownership of all health, safety and environmental compliance activities across the business.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead health and safety compliance across all business operations.

* Maintain and manage ISO 45001 systems and accreditation.

* Conduct and oversee risk assessments, audits, inspections, investigations, safe systems of work and associated documentation.

* Drive continuous improvement and best practice in health, safety and environmental performance.

* Provide guidance, support and reporting to the senior leadership team.

* Manage employee health and safety training programmes.

* Mentor Health & Safety Representatives and Fire Safety Representatives.

* Chair Safety Committee meetings.

* Coordinate occupational health surveillance programmes through external providers.

* Lead environmental compliance activities across the business.

* Maintain and manage ISO 14001 systems and accreditation.

* Oversee environmental permits, waste management and emissions controls.

* Liaise with regulatory bodies, local authorities and emergency services where required.

* Manage environmental training initiatives for employees.

* Coordinate and oversee external contractors as necessary.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

* Minimum 5 years' experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental management role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

* NEBOSH qualification.

* Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.

* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

* Strong IT and reporting capabilities.

* Self-motivated, organised and capable of working autonomously.

* Hands-on approach with a positive, solutions-focused attitude.

* Experience managing HS&E activities across multiple sites.

Desirable

* Graduate Member of IOSH.

* Qualified trainer.

* Internal auditor qualification and experience.

Salary & Benefits

* Salary: Circa £50,000, dependent on experience.

* Permanent, full-time position.

* Multi-site role with regular travel between facilities located within close proximity.
