An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Social Worker to join the Looked After Children Service at the London Borough of Bexley. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dedicated team supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes and permanence plans.

The service promotes manageable caseloads, regular supervision, and a supportive team culture where practitioners are encouraged to develop and progress professionally.

Key Responsibilities

Managing a caseload of looked after children and young people.

Completing statutory visits and maintaining strong relationships with children, carers, and partner agencies.

Progressing permanence plans including long-term fostering, adoption, and Special Guardianship arrangements.

Preparing reports for statutory reviews, court proceedings, and permanency planning meetings.

Working collaboratively with foster carers, education providers, and health professionals to promote positive outcomes.

Supporting care leavers and young people preparing for independence where appropriate.

Ensuring all recording and assessments are completed in line with statutory requirements and timescales.

Candidate Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with current SWE registration.

Previous experience within a Looked After Children Team.

Strong understanding of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989 and Care Planning Regulations.

Ability to manage complex cases and work effectively within multi-agency environments.

Excellent assessment, report writing, and communication skills.
