Senior React Developer

Day Rate: £535/day inside IR35
Clearance Required: BPSS and SC (active SC clearance essential)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SC Cleared React Developer with strong full-stack capabilities to support the delivery of high-quality, user-centric digital services within a secure public sector environment.

The role requires strong Front End expertise in React and JavaScript, alongside working knowledge of Back End technologies such as Node.js. The successful candidate will build scalable, accessible, and performant applications aligned with government digital standards.

You will work in an Agile delivery environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and intuitive digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Front End Development

• Design, develop, and maintain responsive web applications using React.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Build reusable components and Front End libraries for scalability and efficiency
• Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (eg, WCAG)
• Deliver pixel-perfect UI aligned with design specifications and UX best practices

2. Full-Stack Development

• Contribute to Back End development using Node.js or similar technologies
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate Front End applications with Back End services
• Support end-to-end feature delivery across UI, services, and data layers

3. UI/UX & Accessibility

• Apply strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and modern styling approaches
• Deliver user-centric and accessible interfaces aligned with digital service standards
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement seamless user experiences

4. API Integration & Data Handling

• Integrate Front End applications with RESTful APIs and microservices
• Manage asynchronous data flows, state management, and error handling
• Ensure secure and efficient data exchange between systems

5. Agile Delivery & Collaboration

• Work within Agile (Scrum/Kanban) teams, contributing to ceremonies including sprint planning and retrospectives
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, Backend Engineers, and DevOps teams
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices

6. Security & Compliance

• Follow secure coding practices appropriate for regulated environments
• Adhere to relevant security and data protection standards
• Support implementation of authentication and authorisation mechanisms

7. Testing & Quality Assurance

• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code
• Participate in unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
• Support debugging and issue resolution across the stack

Mandatory Requirements

• Active SC Clearance (essential)
• Strong experience with React.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Experience with Node.js or similar Back End technologies
• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design
• Experience building accessible web applications (WCAG awareness)
• Proven experience integrating with RESTful APIs
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments

Desirable Skills

• Experience with state management tools (Redux, Zustand, etc.)
• Familiarity with modern Front End tooling (Webpack, Vite, Babel)
• Knowledge of TypeScript
• Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, React Testing Library)
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience delivering public sector or government digital services
