Contek Recruitment are currently working with a specialist Engineering company, based in Sheffield. Due to continued growth and success, they are recruiting for a Quality Inspector to join their growing team on a full-time, permanent basis. This position is working on a rotation of mornings and nights on a weekly basis.
JOB ROLE: Quality Inspector
LOCATION: Sheffield
SALARY: £35k per year
WORKING HOURS: 1 week rotation – Mornings (Monday to Friday – 6am until 2:30pm) and Nights (Monday to Thursday – 6pm until 4am)
ROLE SCOPE
Responsible for carrying out detailed visual and dimensional inspections of components, materials, and finished products within a fast-paced operational environment serving the Oil & Gas and Aerospace sectors.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform visual and dimensional inspection of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
Verify product conformity against applicable standards, procedures, and quality equirements, including AS9100, ISO 9001, customer specifications, and industry standards.
Complete and maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and traceability documentation in line with company and customer requirements.
Identify, record, and report non-conforming products, supporting containment and corrective action activities where required.
Review manufacturing documentation, certificates, and inspection records to ensure compliance prior to product release.
Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality-related issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure all inspection activities are carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Maintain inspection equipment and ensure measuring instruments are calibrated and fit for purpose.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience in a quality inspection, manufacturing, machining, aerospace, oil & gas, or engineering environment.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and inspection documentation.
Ability to use common metrology equipment such as micrometers, verniers, thread gauges, Go/No Go gauges etc.
Knowledge of quality standards, procedures, and documentation requirements.
Understanding of material certification, traceability, and manufacturing processes.
Experience of material handling, utilizing lifting equipment and overhead cranes.
Reliable, responsive, organised, and capable of managing priorities to meet operational deadlines
