A hands on Health and Safety Manager role with a specialist civil engineering contractor delivering utilities, groundworks and infrastructure projects across London.
This is a role for someone who enjoys being close to the detail, improving how Health and Safety is managed day to day, and supporting a business where your work can have a visible impact. You’ll be joining a close-knit contractor with secured project work, a practical culture and the opportunity to help shape systems, processes and site standards as the business continues to develop.
The role is predominantly office-based, with site visits across London and the surrounding areas when required for audits, high-risk activity reviews, incident support and project meetings.
The Role
Manage Health and Safety across civil engineering, utilities and groundworks projects
Support directors, supervisors and site teams with practical Health and Safety advice
Review RAMS, safe systems of work and key site documentation
Carry out audits, inspections and high-risk activity reviews
Support compliance across excavations, plant, lifting operations and confined space activity
Help manage training records, equipment compliance and internal systems
Assist with accreditations, management systems and future ISO development
Identify better ways of working and help improve processes across the business
The Company
The business is an established specialist contractor working across civil engineering, utilities, drainage and infrastructure environments. Projects range from short-term works through to longer-term schemes, with activity covering live construction sites, public areas, roadways and development projects.
This is an SME environment, so the role requires someone who is happy to be hands-on, involved in the detail and able to support both site and office-based requirements.
About You
Experience in Health and Safety within construction, civil engineering, utilities, groundworks or infrastructure
Knowledge of high-risk site environments such as excavations, plant, lifting operations, temporary works or confined spaces
NEBOSH Construction or equivalent qualification
What’s On Offer
Salary up to £60,000 depending on experience
Company car
24 days annual leave plus bank holidays
Pension scheme
Long-term opportunity within a close-knit specialist contractor
Chance to shape Health and Safety processes, systems and standards
This role would suit a Health and Safety professional who wants ownership, variety and the chance to make a genuine impact within a specialist contractor where they can be close to the work and involved in meaningful improvements
