Health & Safety Manager

Wallington / Central London | £60,000–£75,000 + Excellent Benefits + Travel Expenses Covered

We're partnering with a growing and highly respected construction business seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of the company's health and safety function.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and influential health and safety professional who wants to play a key role in shaping standards, improving processes, and driving a positive safety culture across the business.

Unlike a purely project-focused position, this role combines operational health and safety leadership with site engagement. You'll work closely with the Operations Director, supporting both the strategic and day-to-day management of health and safety across the organisation.

The Role

As Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing the company's health and safety function, ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, and a strong safety culture across office and site operations.

This is a hybrid role, split approximately 50/50 between the company's Wallington office and project sites across Central London.

Key responsibilities include:

*

Taking ownership of the company's health and safety management system

*

Reviewing, updating, and improving policies, procedures, and processes

*

Conducting regular site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews

*

Providing practical health and safety support to operational teams

*

Working closely with the Operations Director on strategic H&S initiatives

*

Ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation and industry best practice

*

Supporting risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work

*

Investigating incidents, near misses, and implementing corrective actions

*

Delivering toolbox talks, briefings, and safety communications

*

Promoting a positive safety culture throughout the business

*

Acting as the primary health and safety point of contact for the organisation

What We're Looking For

We'd love to hear from candidates with:

*

Proven experience in a Health & Safety Manager or Senior Health & Safety Advisor position

*

Experience within the construction sector

*

NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate

*

Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM regulations

*

Experience developing and improving health and safety systems and procedures

*

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

*

A practical, hands-on approach with the confidence to challenge and influence when required

The following would be advantageous:

*

Membership of IOSH (or working towards)

*

Experience supporting multiple sites or projects

*

Experience working closely with operational leadership teams

Working Pattern

*

Approximately 50% office based in Wallington

*

Approximately 50% site based across Central London

*

Regular interaction with operational and project teams

*

Occasional travel to additional project locations as required

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a growing business where health and safety is genuinely valued and supported at leadership level.

You'll have the autonomy to make improvements, influence decision-making, and build upon existing standards while remaining visible and engaged with site teams.

If you're looking for a role where you can combine strategic responsibility with hands-on operational involvement, we'd love to hear from you
