Setting: SEMH Secondary School KS3 - KS4
About the Role
An inclusive SEMH secondary school in Derby City is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teacher from September 2026. You will support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them regulate behaviour, build confidence and re-engage with learning.
The school provides a structured, nurturing environment with small classes, strong pastoral support and an experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs across KS3 and 4
Deliver behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
Provide 1:1 and small-group learning and emotional support
Implement behaviour plans and risk assessments
Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and engagement
Uphold safeguarding and welfare procedures
The Ideal Candidate
Calm, resilient and nurturing, with experience supporting SEMH or SEN pupils. Confident managing challenging behaviour and building strong relationships.
Essential Requirements
SEMH/SEN/PRU or alternative provision experience
Trauma-informed and restorative practice knowledge
Strong behaviour management skills
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
Right to work in the UK
