We are currently recruiting experienced Residential Support Workers to provide high-quality support within children's residential homes on a temporary and flexible basis across Essex.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced support workers looking for flexible work while making a real difference to the lives of children and young people.
Shift Patterns Available:
* Long day shifts
* Waking night shifts
* Sleep-in shifts
* Weekend and bank holiday work available
About the Role
You will be supporting children and young people with a range of emotional, behavioural and additional needs within residential care settings. Many of the young people have experienced trauma and require patient, consistent and therapeutic support to help them feel safe, develop independence and achieve positive outcomes.
As part of a dedicated care team, you will help create a nurturing, structured environment where young people can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
* Build positive, professional and trusting relationships with children and young people.
* Support daily routines, including morning, evening and bedtime routines where required.
* Encourage independence and assist with developing life skills.
* Promote emotional wellbeing through positive engagement and therapeutic support.
* Plan and participate in activities that encourage learning, confidence and social development.
* Manage behaviours that may challenge using calm, professional and trauma-informed approaches.
* Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
* Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and handovers.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
* Work collaboratively with residential teams to provide consistent, high-quality care.
Requirements
* Applicants must be 21 years of age or over.
* A full UK driving licence is essential.
* Minimum 6 months' experience working with children or young people in residential care, supported accommodation, education, youth work or a similar setting.
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
* Calm, patient and resilient approach.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Flexible and reliable with a commitment to delivering outstanding care.
