We are looking for compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic Residential Support Workers to join our team supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional needs in specialist residential homes in Waltham Abbey.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people by providing consistent, person-centred support in a safe and nurturing environment.
About the Young People
You will be supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with some also having additional needs such as ADHD. The young people benefit from:
* Consistent routines and clear boundaries.
* Calm, patient and reassuring support.
* Positive engagement through meaningful activities.
* Simple, clear communication.
* Staff who can build trusting relationships and provide emotional reassurance.
* Encouragement to develop independence and life skills.
* A structured, nurturing environment that promotes emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
* Build positive, trusting and professional relationships.
* Act as a positive role model through appropriate behaviour and communication.
* Plan and participate in enjoyable activities based on the young person's interests.
* Keep young people engaged throughout the shift with meaningful activities.
* Manage behaviours that may challenge using a calm, therapeutic approach.
* Follow Behaviour Support Plans, Risk Assessments and Individual Care Plans.
* Use de-escalation techniques to safely manage challenging situations.
* Maintain consistent routines and boundaries to promote stability.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
* Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and care documentation.
* Work flexibly to meet the changing needs of the home and young people.

* Drivers are preferred.

* Confidence in managing challenging situations professionally.
