Location: Beckfoot School, Beckfoot Oakbank School, Beckfoot Thornton, Beckfoot Upper Heaton

Contract: Part-time and full-time opportunities available

We are seeking dedicated and passionate Science Teachers to join our secondary schools within the Beckfoot Trust. Beckfoot School, Beckfoot Oakbank School, Beckfoot Thornton, and Beckfoot Upper Heaton are vibrant and inclusive schools committed to creating an environment where every pupil can thrive.

As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning in Science, fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment, and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential. You will play a key role in planning and delivering lessons that meet the needs of all learners, including those with additional needs, while promoting curiosity, scientific thinking, and a love of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

A key aspect of this role is creating an inclusive classroom where barriers to learning are identified and addressed through effective teaching strategies, differentiation, and strong relationships with pupils. You will also support pupils’ social, emotional, and intellectual development, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and motivated to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons in line with the national curriculum
Assess, monitor, and record pupils’ progress, using data to inform planning and next steps
Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports all learners
Manage behaviour effectively in line with school policies, promoting high expectations
Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND, EAL, and varying abilities
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other staff to support learning and pupil progress
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupils’ progress and well-being
Contribute to the wider life of the school, including science clubs, events, and extracurricular activities
Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote the welfare of all pupils

What We’re Looking For

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching Science in a secondary school setting (including ECTs are welcome to apply)
Strong knowledge of the Science curriculum and effective teaching strategies across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and pupil achievement
A proactive and flexible approach to working across different school settings
An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
