Design Engineer

Lowestoft based

Full‑time | Competitive Salary | Engineering & Product Development

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team working on the design and development of innovative refrigeration cabinets and associated systems for foodservice and retail environments. This role offers full involvement across the entire product lifecycle — from concept creation through to production release and engineering change management.

You’ll work in a small, hands‑on engineering team where you can genuinely influence product design, collaborate across departments, and see your ideas move from CAD to prototype to production.

The Role

As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

* 3D CAD design of large assemblies including sheet metal, plastics, piping systems and electrical harnesses

* Producing detailed manufacturing drawings, calculations and technical documentation

* Developing concept models and supporting new product development

* Testing and evaluating design concepts through CAD modelling and prototype assessment

* Managing engineering documentation and updates within a PDM system

* Supporting BoMs, manuals, diagrams and component specifications

* Working closely with Production, Quality, Sales, Marketing and suppliers

* Providing input during prototype builds and structured validation activities

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

* A technically strong CAD designer with experience in SolidWorks

* Detail‑oriented, organised and able to work independently

* Confident producing drawings, documentation and engineering calculations

* A proactive problem‑solver with strong analytical skills

* Comfortable collaborating across multidisciplinary teams

* Experienced in sheet metal design or manufacturing processes (desirable)

* Familiar with SolidWorks PDM (preferred)

A relevant engineering degree or technical qualification, plus around five years’ experience, would be ideal — but equivalent experience will also be considered.

What You’ll Gain

* The chance to work across the full concept‑to‑production cycle

* A varied, hands‑on engineering role with real ownership

* Exposure to prototype builds, testing and supplier engagement

* A supportive team environment with cross‑functional collaboration
