Job Description: Social Worker - Family Safeguarding SE

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social Worker to join our Family Safeguarding team in the South East. This role is integral to supporting families in vulnerable situations, promoting safety, well-being, and positive outcomes for children and adults. Responsibilities

Conduct assessments of children and families to identify risks and protective factors.
Develop and implement safeguarding plans to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals including health, education, and law enforcement.
Provide direct support, counselling, and advocacy to individuals and families in need.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records and reports in accordance with organisational policies.
Participate in regular supervision and professional development activities.
Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of practice.
Respond sensitively and respectfully to the diverse cultural backgrounds and needs of families.
Support families to access community resources and services.
Attend and contribute to case conferences, court proceedings, and team meetings as required.

Qualifications

Qualified Social Worker status (e.g., recognised degree/diploma in Social Work).
Registration with the appropriate regulatory body (e.g., HCPC in the UK).
Experience in family safeguarding or child protection is preferred.
Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding legislation, and social care frameworks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and cultural competence.
Ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
Knowledge and commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion principles.

Day-to-Day Activities

Visiting families in their homes to assess safety and support needs.
Coordinating with schools, healthcare providers, and community organisations.
Managing case files, documenting interactions, assessments, and outcomes.
Facilitating group sessions or workshops for families on parenting, resilience, and well-being.
Attending team briefings and safeguarding meetings.
Balancing urgent safeguarding concerns with planned interventions.
