At Pertemps Education, we are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth that is seeking a dedicated SEMH, Autism & Psychology Learning Support Assistant to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates and aspiring professionals interested in educational psychology, clinical psychology, counselling, speech and language therapy, teaching, or special educational needs. The role involves supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and a range of additional learning needs.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH and autism
Help pupils access learning both inside and outside the classroom
Implement behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation techniques
Support the development of communication, social interaction, and independence skills
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents
Assist with the delivery of personalised interventions and EHCP targets
Build positive, trusting relationships that promote pupil confidence and engagementThe Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, or support settings
Has an interest in psychology, mental health, autism, or special educational needs
Demonstrates empathy, resilience, and a proactive attitude
Is confident supporting children who may present with behavioural or emotional challenges
Has strong communication and teamwork skills
Holds a degree in Psychology or a related field (desirable but not essential)What the School Offers
