Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shift Pattern:

Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6:00am - 2:00pm
Week 2: Monday to Thursday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm and Friday, 2:00pm - 7:30pmWe are currently seeking an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join a busy machine shop in Whitstable. This is a hands-on role focused on setting and operating CNC lathes to produce high-quality components, ensuring production targets and quality standards are consistently achieved.

The Role

You will be responsible for setting and operating CNC lathes for small to medium batch production, carrying out inspections against engineering drawings, and ensuring all components meet required specifications. The role also includes machine maintenance checks, tool life monitoring, de-burring, final inspection, and completion of traceability documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Set and operate CNC lathes
Produce components to the highest quality standards and within required timescales
Inspect finished parts using a range of measuring equipment
Read and work from engineering drawings
Report quality issues promptly
Carry out daily, weekly and monthly machine maintenance checks
Maintain excellent housekeeping and 5S standards
Optimise set-up times, cycle times and tooling performance
Complete de-burring, cleaning, final inspection and traceability paperwork
Support the wider production team as requiredWhat We're Looking For

Previous experience operating CNC machine tools
Experience with CNC lathes with a minimum of 4 axes
Ability to read and edit Fanuc-based programs
Confident reading engineering drawings
Skilled in using measuring equipment for inspection
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills
Safety-conscious approach to work
Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality
Willingness to learn and develop new skillsDesirable Experience

Experience operating twin-spindle machines
Knowledge of AS9100 aerospace quality standards
