Empowering Learning is currently recruiting compassionate, motivated, and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistants to work within a variety of mainstream schools, specialist provisions, and alternative education settings across Northumberland.
This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with additional needs, enabling them to engage in learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.
The Role
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs
Support learners with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning difficulties
Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive learning activities
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and school staff
Support learners both within the classroom and during wider school activities
We Are Looking For
Candidates who:
Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within education, care, youth work, residential care, or support settings
Are patient, resilient, and nurturing in their approach
Have a genuine passion for supporting learners with additional needs
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Can adapt to the varying needs of individual pupils
Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Qualifications
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
Previous SEN experience is highly advantageous
Graduates considering careers in education, psychology, social work, counselling, or therapy are encouraged to apply
