Empowering Learning is currently seeking enthusiastic, caring, and committed SEN Learning Support Assistants to work within a range of mainstream schools, specialist provisions, and alternative education settings across Gateshead.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with additional needs, helping them to access education, build confidence, and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
The Role
As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional needs
Support learners with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, and learning disabilities
Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and wellbeing
Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals
We Are Looking For
Candidates who:
Have experience working with children or young people in education, care, youth work, coaching, residential care, or support settings
Are patient, resilient, and empathetic
Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Can build positive relationships and adapt to individual learning needs
Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Qualifications
Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
Previous SEN experience is highly advantageous
Graduates considering careers in education, psychology, social work, counselling, or therapy are encouraged to apply
