Position Overview
Francesca’s Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for an experienced Lab Technician to join a well‑established chemical and oil manufacturing company in Goldthorpe. This role is ideal for a detail‑driven laboratory professional with strong analytical skills and a passion for maintaining high standards in testing, quality, and safety.
You will manage daily laboratory operations, support and mentor the Junior Lab Technician, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and provide accurate testing and analysis to support production and quality teams.
Key Responsibilities
*
Mentor Junior Lab Technician and support their development.
*
Manage daily laboratory operations including sample receipt, testing schedules, and workflow organisation.
*
Conduct laboratory testing & analysis across oils, chemicals, and blended materials.
*
Perform Quality Assurance checks and resolve any non‑conformances.
*
Maintain and calibrate lab equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
*
Ensure compliance with HSE, COSHH, and site safety rules.
*
Communicate results clearly to internal teams and external stakeholders.
*
Support awareness of ISO standards, site certifications, and quality systems.
*
Maintain high standards of hygiene, PPE use, and site security.
Essential Skills & Experience
*
Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
*
Minimum 3 years’ laboratory experience.
*
Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations (e.g., COSHH, H&S at Work Act).
*
Experience with laboratory testing procedures and quality standards (ISO, ASTM).
*
Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking.
*
Strong communication and leadership skills.
*
Experience in the oil, gas, or chemical industry (desirable).
Aptitudes & Personal Qualities
*
Strong leadership and mentoring ability.
*
Analytical, methodical, and confident in problem‑solving.
*
