Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Liverpool
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (Dependent on Experience)
About the Role
An established and growing engineering consultancy is seeking a motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join its Liverpool-based team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of geotechnical and ground investigation projects across the commercial, residential, infrastructure, and development sectors.
The successful candidate will be involved in both site-based and office-based activities, supporting projects from initial investigation through to technical assessment, reporting, and project delivery. Key Responsibilities
Undertake and supervise ground investigation works across a variety of sites.
Coordinate site operations and ensure technical standards are maintained throughout project delivery.
Log soil and rock samples in accordance with current industry standards.
Prepare factual and interpretative geotechnical reports.
Assist with geotechnical assessments, foundation recommendations, and earthworks evaluations.
Support Phase I and Phase II site investigations where required.
Manage subcontractors, drilling crews, and site contractors.
Monitor project programmes, budgets, and deliverables.
Maintain accurate project records and technical documentation.
Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
Requirements
Previous experience within a geotechnical, engineering geology, or geo-environmental consultancy.
Understanding of ground investigation techniques, soil and rock logging, and geotechnical assessment practices.
Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
Knowledge of current geotechnical standards, regulations, and best practices.
Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Commercial awareness and ability to manage project priorities.
