Location: Bath (Hybrid)
Contract: 12 Months

Firewall Engineer - 12 Month Contract - Bath
We are currently seeking an experienced Firewall Engineer to join a well-established organisation on an initial 12-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a complex enterprise environment, supporting and enhancing critical network security infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, support, troubleshooting and optimisation of firewall technologies, ensuring the security and availability of business-critical systems and services.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, maintain and support enterprise firewall environments.
Implement and manage firewall policies, NAT rules and security controls.
Monitor network security infrastructure and investigate security-related incidents.
Perform firewall rule reviews and ensure compliance with security standards.
Support VPN technologies and remote access solutions.
Troubleshoot complex network connectivity and security issues.
Collaborate with infrastructure, security and project teams on network-related initiatives.
Assist with firewall migrations, upgrades and platform enhancements.
Produce and maintain technical documentation.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience with enterprise firewall technologies such as:
Fortinet / FortiGate
Palo Alto Networks
Check Point
Cisco ASA / Firepower
Sophos
Experience managing site-to-site and remote access VPNs.
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including:
TCP/IP
Routing & Switching
DNS
LAN/WAN technologies
Experience troubleshooting complex network and security issues.
Knowledge of network monitoring and security best practices.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable Skills
Experience working within large enterprise or regulated environments.
Exposure to network security monitoring tools.
Relevant vendor certifications such as:
PCNSA / PCNSE
NSE
CCNA / CCNP Security
