Technical Facilities Manager - Shopping Centre

Location: West London
Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum
Role type: Permanent, full-time

We are seeking a technically competent and hands-on Technical Facilities Manager to oversee the safe, compliant and efficient operation of all building systems and services at a small shopping centre in West London. This is a key role for an experienced facilities professional with a strong building services engineering or M&E background and the confidence to manage both day-to-day operational delivery and structured capital, lifecycle and contractor-led programmes.

The Technical Facilities Manager will work closely with the Centre Manager on operational, occupier and stakeholder matters, while also engaging with the Property Manager on budgets, major approvals, programme reporting and longer-term asset planning.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technically competent facilities management across all building services, plant, systems and common areas.
Ensure the centre remains safe, statutory compliant and operationally resilient at all times.
Manage planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and lifecycle works across M&E, fabric and specialist systems.
Oversee contractors, consultants and service partners, ensuring strong performance, value for money and compliance with agreed service levels.
Lead and coordinate capital works, lifecycle projects and major maintenance programmes from planning through to delivery.
Maintain accurate records, reports, risk registers, compliance documentation and budget information.
Support the Centre Manager with operational issues, occupier communications, incident response and stakeholder requirements.
Work with the Property Manager on budget planning, major approvals, technical reporting and programme updates.
Monitor health and safety, statutory testing, permits to work, contractor RAMS and site compliance processes.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk and enhance the reliability of building systems.

About You

Strong technical facilities management experience, ideally within retail, shopping centre, commercial property or a similar public-facing environment.
Building services engineering, mechanical and electrical, or M&E maintenance background is essential.
Good working knowledge of statutory compliance, health and safety, contractor management and building services operations.
Experience managing planned maintenance, reactive works, lifecycle projects and capital works programmes.
Knowledge of lifts, escalators and vertical transportation systems would be highly valuable.
Confident communicator, able to work with centre management, property management, contractors, occupiers and external stakeholders.
Commercially aware, organised and capable of managing budgets, reports, approvals and competing priorities.
Relevant technical, engineering, FM, health and safety or building services qualifications would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong FM professional to take ownership of the operational and engineering performance of a well-positioned West London shopping centre. The role offers variety, visibility and the chance to combine hands-on technical oversight with project delivery, contractor management and client-facing reporting.

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.

To apply, please submit your CV outlining your technical FM, building services engineering or M&E experience, together with any relevant shopping centre, retail or commercial property background
