Health & Safety Manager
Yolk Recruitment are working with a long-established manufacturing business seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to take ownership of site-wide HSE across a busy, high-risk production environment. This is a hands-on, shopfloor-based role, not a desk-led compliance position - you'll be present in operations, working closely with teams on the ground and directly influencing safe systems of work across the site.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced industrial setting where priorities can shift quickly and a practical, solutions-focused approach is essential. You'll be expected to influence behaviours, challenge unsafe practices, and build strong relationships with operational teams at all levels.
This role suits someone who enjoys being close to operations, managing risk in real time, and embedding strong health & safety standards across a live production environment. It may also suit someone stepping into their first Health & Safety Manager position, with relevant hands-on industry experience.
Key responsibilities:
Lead day-to-day health & safety across a heavy industrial manufacturing site
Own and improve the HSE management system
Carry out risk assessments, COSHH assessments, audits and inspections
Work closely with production teams to ensure safe systems of work are followed
Manage contractor control and review RAMS
Lead incident, accident and near-miss investigations
Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation and internal standards
Deliver toolbox talks, training and site briefings
Monitor actions from inspections, audits and statutory checks
Support site development projects from a health & safety perspective
This is what you'll need:
NEBOSH
Experience in manufacturing, engineering or heavy industrial environments
Experience with risk assessments, COSHH, audits and investigations
And this is what you'll get:
Overtime availability
Pension scheme
Opportunity to join a business investing heavily in its site and future growth
