Mechanical Design Engineer

Orion is partnering with a renowned automation company that has been pioneering the industry for over half a century. Specialising in crafting innovative special-purpose equipment, conveyors, and injection machines, this company has experienced significant growth and is now expanding its team of talent. They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to be a vital part of their ongoing success story.

About the Mechanical Design Role

In this dynamic role, you’ll have the opportunity to bring bespoke machinery and materials handling equipment from initial concept all the way through to installation. You’ll collaborate with some of the world’s leading blue-chip companies across the food, pharmaceutical, and logistics sectors. No two projects are alike, ensuring your work remains varied and exciting every day.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for:

Develop detailed 3D models and technical drawings of custom machinery and components using CAD software.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including electrical and manufacturing, to ensure seamless project integration.
Review and refine designs based on feedback, testing, and manufacturing constraints.
Assist in preparing Bills of Materials (BoMs) and technical documentation for production.
Support manufacturing and assembly processes by providing technical guidance and troubleshooting.
Conduct design reviews and ensure all projects adhere to relevant standards and safety regulations.

A successful Mechanical Design Engineer will need:

Working knowledge of 3D CAD systems.
Experience of the Full Product Life Cycle
Experience designing machinery, heavy equipment or moving parts design.
Understanding of British Manufacturing Standards (desirable).
Full right to work in the UK.
