Location: Derbyshire
Contract: Initial 3–6 Month Contract
Rate: £45–£48 per hour (Outside IR35)
Hours: 40 Hours per Week | Monday to Thursday Office Based | Friday Remote

The Role

Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking for your next contract opportunity? We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering manufacturer based in Derby that designs and delivers bespoke, safety-critical equipment for some of the world's leading organisations across the power generation, energy, aerospace and oil & gas sectors.

Working within the mechanical engineering team, you will take projects from initial customer requirements through concept development and detailed design to final

Key Responsibilities

Develop concept and detailed mechanical designs based on customer specifications.
Carry out stress calculations and engineering analysis using Mathcad, NASTRAN and traditional calculation methods.
Produce and review engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Support site surveys, project delivery and cross-functional engineering activities.
Ensure designs meet safety-critical, offshore and industry standards.
Contribute to research, development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Strong background in stress calculations and mechanical analysis.
Proficient in Mathcad, NASTRAN, Excel and hand calculations.
Experience designing safety-critical mechanical systems, ideally within the Oil & Gas, Energy or Aerospace sectors.
HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.

Degree-qualified candidates are preferred, although equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
