Automation Engineer - Freelance/B2B - Remote from the EU
Quarterly visits to the Netherlands are required but covered by expenses.
€450-500 EUROS per day
Responsibilities
- Automate deployment, configuration, and management of on-prem network infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows for network operations.
- Collaborate with network and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into automation solutions.
- Ensure stable, scalable, and well-documented on-prem network automation.
- Use cloud knowledge (hybrid/connectivity) as a plus, where relevant.

- Networking Advanced understanding of automated platforms and complex network services.
- Python & Bash Proficient: Expert: Software background with deep knowledge of SDLC and complex script architecture.
- APIs: Have experience at integrating multiple platforms via REST API and managing data flow.
- Tooling (IaC) Architecting and optimizing Terraform and Ansible workflows for the team.
- CI/CD & DevOps Designs and manages CI/CD pipelines. Knows GitLab Pipelines or GitHub Actions.
- Technical Skills Basic Knowledge of Cisco networking,

- Firewall Logic: Understanding the difference between a flow and a rule; knowledge of stateful/stateless connections.
- Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible.
- Automation Languages: Proficiency in Python (must be able to write logic/functions manually) and Bash.
- Data/APIs: Familiarity with REST API requests, authentication, and JSON/YAML data formats.
- Version Control: Knowledge of Git-based workflows (GitLab/GitHub).
- Software Background: Deep understanding of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
- Orchestration: Advanced knowledge of Rundeck for job scheduling and workflow automation.
- Team Leadership: Experience working in and leading within a DevOps team structure.
- Architecture: Strategic understanding of the platforms being automated.
