This fulfilling position is focused on developing the knowledge and skills of volunteers and staff who operate and maintain RNLI equipment and lifeboats across all RNLI sites throughout the UK and Ireland.

- You will be delivering engaging technical training sessions to enhance the skills of our crews.
- Producing new and updating existing training materials.
- Ensuring learners remain current with developments in the Search and Rescue (SAR) environment.
- Using your practical engineering experience to help others diagnose faults, maintain equipment, and operate RNLI assets safely and effectively.

About you

To succeed in this role, you don't necessarily need previous teaching qualifications if you have the right technical background and enthusiasm to develop as a trainer.

- A strong technical background.
- Experience operating, maintaining, diagnosing faults in, and repairing machinery.
- Knowledge of RNLI lifeboats and equipment is desirable but not essential.
- A valid driving licence.
- Ability to meet RNLI medical and eyesight standards for sea-going appointments.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
- A genuine passion for helping others learn and develop.

This position would be an excellent fit for someone who:

- Has practical engineering or maintenance experience.
- Enjoys mentoring or coaching others.
- Wants to move away from purely operational work into a role with a strong training and people-development focus.
- Is motivated by the RNLI's lifesaving mission and values.
