The role & about the client:
ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing construction business for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent basis.
Based from their Verwood office, the successful candidate will work across a diverse portfolio of projects within sectors including NHS, Local Authorities, Schools, Social Housing and Local Councils. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join a supportive and expanding business with a strong pipeline of secured work.

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from contract award through to final account, ensuring effective cost control, subcontract procurement, contract administration, valuation management, variation control and commercial reporting, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Attend pre-contract and project handover meetings and review project documentation.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities within contracts and project specifications.
- Procure subcontractors and suppliers, negotiate terms and manage subcontract accounts.
- Prepare and submit applications for payment in accordance with contract requirements.
- Monitor project costs and maintain accurate financial records and reporting.
- Track project profitability and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Identify, price and negotiate variations and change management processes.
- Administer contracts and issue contractual notices where required.
- Attend site progress meetings and provide commercial support to delivery teams.
- Assist in resolving commercial and contractual disputes.
- Prepare and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
- Manage retentions and ensure projects are commercially closed out effectively.

The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of subcontract procurement and commercial management processes.
- Knowledge of construction contracts and contractual procedures, including JCT and NEC contracts.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and organisational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management software.
- Experience using SimPro would be advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
