Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Iver area to appoint a passionate and dedicated Year 5 Class Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative school community and play a key role in preparing pupils for the transition into Upper Key Stage 2.
This role would suit an enthusiastic and motivated teacher with a strong understanding of KS2 expectations, who is committed to helping pupils deepen their knowledge, build independence, and achieve their full potential ahead of Year 6.
The Role
As a Year 5 Teacher, you will support pupils in becoming more confident, independent learners while developing their knowledge and skills across the Upper KS2 curriculum. You will play a vital role in preparing pupils for the challenges of Year 6 and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated Year 5 lessons in line with the KS2 national curriculum
Support pupils’ progress in reading, writing, maths, and SPaG
Prepare pupils for Upper KS2 expectations, including readiness for SATs in Year 6
Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Monitor and assess pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
Support children with a range of abilities, including those with SEN
Promote pupils’ confidence, resilience, and independence
Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable
Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5 or Upper KS2
Strong understanding of KS2 curriculum expectations
Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
Engaging, adaptable, and nurturing teaching style
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work full-time in the Iver area from September
Desirable
Previous experience teaching Year 5
Strong understanding of progression into Year 6 and SATs preparation
Experience using assessment data to accelerate pupil progress
Experience supporting children with SEN
Commitment to inclusive, high-quality teaching and learning
