Metalis are working with a variety of manufacturing companies based in throughout Rotherham & Sheffield who are looking for experienced Manual Machinist's to join the team.
Your primary responsibility will be centre lathe turning, focusing mainly on straight bar turning to wide tolerances, predominantly on nickel alloys (though other materials are also machined). As a subcontract environment, productivity, accuracy, and reliability are key.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Set up and operate machine tools including heavy-duty Centre Lathes, Borers, Mills, and Bandsaws
Carry out centre lathe turning to specified tolerances
Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
Select appropriate tooling and machining methods to meet job specifications
Measure and inspect components to ensure accuracy and quality
Perform minor machine maintenance and adjustments to keep equipment running efficiently
Work collaboratively within a team committed to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
Undertake any other reasonable duties within your capabilityShifts & Salary:
£16.00ph - £18.00ph (DOE)
Mixture of Shifts - Days & Afternoons, Days & Nights
Overtime AvailableThe ideal candidate will have:
Previous Machining Experience
MUST be flexible to work shifts
Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
