The Opportunity

We’re recruiting for a HSEQ & Sustainability Manager to take a senior leadership role on a long-term, large-scale construction programme expected to run for over 5 years.

This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of health & safety, environmental performance, sustainability, and community engagement on a major live site with real influence over site culture, delivery standards, and long-term project outcomes.

You’ll be joining a well-established delivery team on a complex, fast-moving scheme, where your input will directly shape how the project is delivered safely, responsibly, and sustainably.

The Role

You will act as the lead HSEQ & Sustainability professional on site, working closely with operational teams, subcontractors, stakeholders, and the wider project leadership team.

This role combines hands-on site leadership with strategic oversight, ensuring high standards are maintained across health & safety, environmental performance, and social value.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Compliance

* Lead implementation and continuous improvement of site-wide HSEQ systems

* Ensure compliance with UK legislation including CDM Regulations and HSE standards

* Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations, driving corrective actions

* Monitor trends, identify risks, and promote a strong behavioural safety culture

* Support operational teams with RAMS reviews and risk mitigation

Sustainability & Environmental Performance

* Develop and implement project sustainability strategy aligned with ESG objectives

* Monitor and report on environmental performance including carbon, waste, and energy usage

* Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact across site operations

* Promote practical and innovative sustainable construction practices

Community Engagement & Social Value

*

Act as a key point of contact for local stakeholders and community groups

*

Manage communication around site activity, logistics and disruption

*

Lead social value initiatives across the project

*

Support local employment, skills development, and community programmes

What We’re Looking For

Essential

* Experience in a senior HSEQ role within construction, infrastructure or major projects

* Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and CDM Regulations

* Experience delivering environmental and sustainability initiatives on live projects

* Background in stakeholder or community engagement

* NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)

* Strong communication, leadership, and influencing skills

Desirable

* Environmental or sustainability qualification (e.g. IEMA)

* ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 auditing experience

* Experience on complex, live construction environments

* Knowledge of construction logistics best practice (FORS / CLOCS)

Why Apply?

*

Long-term programme (5+ years of secured work on this project alone)

*

Senior leadership role with genuine influence on site culture and delivery

*

Opportunity to shape sustainability and HSEQ performance on a major build

*

Strong pipeline of future work and career progression opportunities
