CNC Setter / Operator
A leading precision engineering manufacturer is looking for an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to join its skilled machine shop team.
Key Responsibilities
* Set, and operate CNC machines including:
* Fanuc-controlled machining centres
* Mazak lathes and mills (Mazatrol)
* Citizen machinery (Mitsubishi controls)
* Interpret 2D engineering drawings and CAD data to generate accurate machining programs
* Select tools, set up fixtures, and optimize cutting parameters
* Measure and inspect parts using a wide range of precision equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
* Complete and understand quality control documentation
* Optimize cycle times, reduce the number of machining operations, and contribute to process improvements
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
* Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to refine designs and improve manufacturability
What We are Looking For
* At least 3–5 years of experience in CNC operation
* Strong skills in Fanuc, Mazatrol, and Mitsubishi controller programming
* Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
* Confident in using a range of inspection tools and methods
* Highly organized with good attention to detail
* Proactive mindset with the ability to identify and implement improvements
* Comfortable working independently and in collaboration with other departments
Desirable Skills
* Familiarity with CAD/CAM integration, especially Fusion 360 (we are in the early stages of implementation)
* Experience with other CAM platforms (e.g., Edgecam, Mastercam)
* Exposure to lean manufacturing, 5S, or Kaizen environments
* Background in regulated sectors such as medical, automotive, aerospace, or defense
