Our client, a prominent player in the automotive industry, is currently seeking a Hydrogen Fuel System Controls Engineer on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in advancing hydrogen fuel systems for the future of clean automotive technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver hydrogen fuel system and infrastructure components within HMS projects, including system architecture, supplier coordination, and timely delivery.
Lead system-level engineering and safety analysis for hydrogen fuel systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
Design and implement PLC-based control systems, including automation logic, safety interlocks, and SCADA/HMI interfaces.
Develop and operate hydrogen/cryogenic test facilities, executing verification & validation activities and producing supporting documentation.
Analyse test data, generate reports, and support operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-pressure gas and hydrogen systems in hazardous environments.

Job Requirements:

Degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in Electrical, Control Systems, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or similar engineering discipline.
Strong hands-on experience with PLC programming and automation systems (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff) and SCADA/HMI tools.
Proven background in DAQ, instrumentation, and high-pressure/compressed gas systems in hazardous environments.
Solid understanding of hydrogen systems, gas dynamics, and safety practices, including leak detection and pressure testing. Ideally some knowledge of liquid hydrogen but not essential.
Experience applying system safety methods (e.g. FMEA, FTA, FHA), with additional exposure to cryogenics, hydrogen propulsion, or modelling tools as an advantage.
