Job Description

An established independent ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) school located just outside Taunton is seeking a committed and professional 1:1 Nurture Teaching Assistants to join the team from September. This role involves providing consistent, individualised support to a pupil with additional social, emotional, and communication needs, ensuring they are able to access learning in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

*

1:1 pupil support — delivering tailored nurture‑based assistance to promote engagement and emotional regulation

*

Classroom support — assisting the class teacher with differentiated learning activities

*

Behavioural support — implementing consistent, calm strategies in line with the school’s therapeutic approach

*

Progress monitoring — contributing to observations and supporting individual learning plans

*

Team collaboration — working closely with teachers, therapists, and senior staff to ensure cohesive support

Person Specification

The school welcomes applicants with experience in ASC, SEN, care, youth work, or education. However, they are equally interested in candidates with strong transferable skills and a genuine commitment to supporting young people.

Essential qualities include:

A calm, patient, and nurturing approach

Strong communication and relationship‑building skills

*

Reliability, professionalism, and a willingness to be fully involved in school life

Adaptability and a proactive attitude
